Penni Burfein
Penni Burfein has extensive clinical experience working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders across the continuum of care in rural, regional, and quaternary hospital settings. Currently she employed as an advanced Speech Pathologist and Team Leader at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital.
Passionate about improving the lives of people with aphasia, Penni has a long history of research collaborations with the UQ Queensland Aphasia Research Centre and has been part of the team to investigate and implement the award winning Comprehensive High Dose Aphasia Treatment program into everyday clinical practice, which is one of a kind in Australia.
She is currently enrolled in a PhD investigating return to work for stroke survivors with aphasia and looks forward to sharing vocational outcomes and rehabilitation experiences from the perspective of clinicians and consumers.
