Cassio V. Ruas

I am a Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology and the Brazilian Institute of Neuroscience and Neurotechnology (BRAINN - FAPESP, UNICAMP), and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University. I completed my PhD in Exercise and Sports Science at Edith Cowan University in 2021. My research focuses on exercise neurophysiology, neuromuscular function, and rehabilitation, with emphasis on the neural mechanisms underlying movement in neurological conditions such as stroke and motor neurone disease. I collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Australia, Brazil, Europe, and North America, using advanced neurophysiological and neuromodulation techniques to investigate neural control and adaptations to exercise and rehabilitation interventions. I have secured over AUD $1.2 million in competitive research funding through projects supported by agencies including São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), and received awards including the European College of Sports Science Young Investigator Award, the Exercise and Sports Science Australia Connecting Community Award, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Scholarship.
